Superintendent reports on student activities, middle school improvements and thanks voters after referendum passage

Superintendent Heidi Lewis opened the board’s Nov. 19 meeting with updates from multiple departments and a public thank-you to voters after passage of the district’s two-question referendum.
Lewis introduced student presenters Mya Karsten and Addison Aleshire and Activities Director Justin Reese for a Fall Activities recap; Student School Board Representative Aiyanna Shobe reported on a student board conference she attended with Lori Andler, Director of Administrative Services. Fridley Middle School Principal Dr. Amy Cochran and Assistant Principal Matthew Engelhardt presented on Lavinia work and academic improvement at the middle school. Director of Community Education Stephen Keeler described recent early childhood events including the Early Childhood Fall Festival, Tiger Club Family Night and a Preschool IB Night.
Lewis announced the appointment of Boukham Moua as Senior Officer of Human Resources and Rochelle Cox, Senior Officer of Operations and System Alignment, discussed custodian training and use of microfiber cloths. Lewis also publicly “thank[ed] FPS voters on passing the two question Referendum,” a development she raised during the report.
