Committee green-lights NJDOT grant application for Merion Ave, hears traffic-signal updates
Summary
Carneys Point authorized submission of an NJDOT roadway-improvement grant for Merion Avenue, approved a traffic-signal agreement for Rt. 40 & Quillytown Road, and heard that signals at Route 295 exits should be operational in early August.
The Township Committee voted to submit a New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) grant application for Merion Avenue roadway improvements and authorized the township to execute a grant contract if the award is made.
Mr. Bomba moved the resolution to submit the NJDOT application; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Engineering consultant S. Cosaboon of Sickels & Associates reported that a West Quilleytown Road punch list should be completed within a week and that new traffic signals at the exits of Route 295 are expected to be working in early August. Under old business the committee also approved signing an Archer & Greiner NJDOT traffic-signal agreement for Route 40 and Quillytown Road.
The committee treated roadway work and signal projects as priority infrastructure items; Cosaboon said he will follow up with the State regarding the Harding Highway speed-limit request.
