The Township Committee approved Resolution 2025-124 to refund $30,200 in premium monies to NR Deed, LLC following final judgment of foreclosure and voted to refund $1,170.78 in 2024 property taxes to a parcel eligible for a 100% Total Disabled Veteran exemption.
Mr. Pelura, who moved the motions, explained the township’s obligations with tax-lien sales: “After final judgement if before five years we have to give the money back but after the five years we get to keep the money,” he said while describing why the refund is processed. Both motions were seconded and carried unanimously.
The committee also approved a general refund-of-subsequent-taxes policy for lien holders to address overpayments, and the refunds were processed by the township finance office as part of routine post-foreclosure accounting.
