Staff told the council about Ordinance 2026‑4, which would annex the eastern 0.5 portion of South Van Buren Street into the town limits and allow the town to claim that segment as a roadway asset for inventory and maintenance. The staff member said the county commissioners previously provided approval and a recorded deed of permanent right‑of‑way for the eastern 0.5 segment, and the ordinance would complete the town's inventory and allow CCMG work to proceed when appropriate.
The staff member asked for introduction pursuant to Indiana annexation statutes and said the matter would be set for public hearings next month; staff said it will also seek commissioners' consent in the interim to simplify the annexation process. A council member moved to accept the introduction and another seconded the motion; the board accepted the introduction and staff will follow up with the required filings.
