Town notified of FEMA stormwater grant via Maumee River Basin Commission

Staff told the board that the Maumee River Basin Commission (MRBC) reached out with a FEMA grant opportunity that the town appears eligible to pursue. "There is a grant available through FEMA that we're eligible for," the staff member said, and explained the funds would be used strictly for stormwater studies and creation of a master plan to guide future improvements.
Staff said the town had budgeted a $5,000 match under a 25% model, but when MRBC regionalized the application and included Washington Township in the region it lowered the median household income and reduced the required local match to about 10%. The staff member said that shift could mean the $5,000 the town had planned might fully cover the town's share, but he told the board he did not yet have final figures and would share more as the application proceeds.
The staff member asked the board to expect further public‑notice requirements (advertising in the newspaper) and to anticipate follow‑up briefings once MRBC completes the regional application. Council members asked how much was applied for; the staff member said he had seen a figure of roughly $91,000 in documents but cautioned that the total might exceed $100,000 and said MRBC planned to cover a substantial portion of the cost.
