Residents urge caution on Bonita diagonal parking and ask city to reserve pool parking

Patsy Kao, a long‑time Bonita resident, told the council her block is one of the busiest in the city and said she has "a lot of safety concerns for myself backing out of that driveway" if diagonal parking and one‑way conversions proceed. A student who walks to Piedmont High School described obstructed sight lines created by construction fencing near Bonita and Vista and urged the council to account for pedestrian safety. Resident Marsha Lane asked that the council remove the proposed Bonita one‑way/diagonal conversion from consideration without a full traffic and safety analysis.
John Sacco, a lifelong Piedmont resident and pool volunteer, warned the council that the new pool’s revenue projections rely on convenient parking and urged dedicating the 17 proposed diagonal spaces near the pool to pool users. "If we build it, some will come, but not enough to generate $2,000,000 in revenue," Sacco said, arguing the city should protect the pool investment with proximate parking or risk a significant operating subsidy.
