Daniel noted the city had earlier budgeted roughly $200,000–$250,000 for green infrastructure at this location and that a $500,000 Alameda County Transportation Commission grant supported bicycle and pedestrian enhancements connected to resurfacing and safety improvements. Commissioners asked how this project differs from neighborhood-funded beautification projects; staff said the combination of grant eligibility, MRP obligations and traffic-safety priorities made this project eligible for city-led implementation.
