Council to add Zoom, expand Polar Bear Scoop placement to boost outreach

The Community Education Advisory Council on Sept. 30 reviewed outreach steps after noting that none of the community members invited attended the meeting. Superintendent Sue Hoeft's invitation to committee meetings was reviewed and committee members agreed to try adding a Zoom option to future meetings to improve participation.
Principal Amanda Fjeld said she will reach out to the Floodwood Forum about purchasing a full-page placement for the Polar Bear Scoop or expanding the insert so text can be set in a larger font, while Community Education Coordinator Ashley Engh said she would try to adjust the Scoop's content to avoid small fonts. "Zoom options will be added on future meetings to see if that helps with attendance," the minutes state.
The move aims to increase visibility for Community Education offerings and attendance at advisory meetings; the invitation also will be included in the October Polar Bear Scoop and the school edition of the Floodwood Forum. The next advisory meeting was scheduled for Nov. 25, 2024.
