Library staff reported a $2,500 pledge from the South Burlington City Center Collaborative to fund improvements in the teen hangout space. Presenting to the board, a staff member said the pledge is intended for visible, kid-requested items such as additional comfy seating, a TV and ambient lighting and that the money had not yet been received.
Board members discussed scope and timing, and staff said the funds will be used to implement the most immediate changes identified by teens. "So, they gave us, $2,500. We haven't gotten it yet, but, they've been you know... for some of those things," the staff member said.
Staff and board agreed the donation would be paired with existing gift funds or leftover FY25 donations where necessary; the board encouraged staff to proceed with purchases that give immediate benefit to youth.
