Library staff introduced a new monthly teen focus group intended to bring 6th–12th graders into the library to shape programs and space upgrades. Presenting to the board, a staff member described the initiative as a casual, relationship-building approach that uses food and informal prompts to start conversations. "the goal of this program is to, get the 6th to 12th graders into the library, hang out with us, have some pizza, just talk to us about what they like," the staff member said.
Staff reported the first session drew a small mixed-age group — mostly middle-schoolers and one or two older teens — and described the format as a low-pressure way to solicit preferences ranging from furniture to craft supplies. Board members recommended providing short talking points and neighborhood-level outreach through local forums to boost attendance. Staff said they plan to continue monthly sessions and to recruit teens to help co-produce future events.
