Mayor reports on sheriff talks, chamber outreach and NCDOT road‑striping improvements

Mayor Leigh Anne Young and Commissioner Brandon Core met with Jackson County Chamber Director Todd Vinyard on April 17 to discuss potential Chamber involvement and support for future Webster events. Mayor Young also met April 21 with Sheriff Doug Farmer and Captain Tony Cope to discuss the possibility of a formal MOU for patrol services, including reevaluation of Webster’s reimbursement rate; the Sheriff’s Office expressed openness to considering an MOU and suggested the town prepare an initial draft.
Mayor Young reported that NCDOT installed new six-foot-wide reflective edge and center lines along NC‑116/Webster Road, work she credited to the town's Traffic Safety Committee recommendations from 2024. Sheriff Farmer also plans to attend this year’s Halloween event to help assess safety and advise on future improvements.
