Hill City board elects officers, sets pay and committee assignments at organizational meeting

At the Jan. 8 organizational meeting the board swore in officers, elected Jay Zapzalka chair, Ron Saxton vice-chair, Joell Miranda clerk and Sarah Kingsley treasurer, set meeting pay at $60 per meeting and updated committee assignments and administrative appointments.
During the Jan. 8 organizational meeting the board administered oaths of office and completed annual governance tasks. Jay Zapzalka was re-elected chair (motion by Sarah Kingsley, seconded by Haley Wentz), Ron Saxton was elected vice-chair, Joell Miranda was approved as clerk and Sarah Kingsley was approved as treasurer. The motions were recorded as passed.
The board set board member pay at $60 per meeting and maintained the annual stipends for chair, clerk and treasurer ($450 each). The board also confirmed committee assignments across curriculum, policy, library oversight, safety/transportation, athletic advisory, negotiations and other standing committees. The board appointed Pemberton Law/John Colosimo as the district attorney and designated the superintendent as the HIPAA Security Officer and the controller as the HIPAA Privacy Officer. The board changed the designated public posting places by removing the Jacobson Fire Hall as a posting location and set the mileage reimbursement to the federal rate of 70 cents per mile.
