Superintendent seeks community feedback on LCAP goals after Literacy Night partnership

Superintendent Emily Pendell told the Board the district partnered with GPAC for Literacy Night and made book purchases to improve Native American representation in school materials.
Pendell said the district is beginning a review of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and asked for community feedback on whether the current goals meet student needs. She clarified, "LCAP goals can be changed however because the LCAP goals are overarching, it's more likely that we will evaluate the effectiveness of the tools used to meet the LCAP goals." The superintendent invited community input during the LCAP review process so that the Board and staff can determine if adjustments to strategies or tools are needed.
President Ritta Martin asked what happens if the district decides to change LCAP goals mid-cycle; Pendell reiterated that changes are possible but the emphasis will be on evaluating tools and their effectiveness.
