Carbon Hill trustees hear sewer project nearing completion, water-billing update promised

Mayor Adam Johnson told residents at the Oct. 7 special meeting that work on the village sewer project is progressing and that remaining fixes are limited to equipment delivery and installation. In public comment resident Mary Jo Shain asked for a status update; Johnson said the driveway issue she raised "was done incorrectly and is being fixed." Matt Halloran of Chamlin & Associates said the treatment bed is complete, most valves are installed and "the project should be finished in the next month or so."
The mayor and Halloran also told the board they are awaiting delivery of the pretreatment unit and tank, which Halloran said are expected in the coming weeks. Mary Jo Shain additionally asked about how the village bills for water and sewer; Mayor Johnson said he expects to have a more detailed understanding of water billing at the next regular meeting.
