The Board of Harvey County Commissioners authorized staff to proceed with purchase of the building at 109/111 E. 7th St., Newton, for $100,000 after reviewing a real estate agreement with sellers identified as successor trustees of the Arnold C. Nye Family Living Trust. County Administrator Kevin Frymire said the building's "proximity of this building to the courthouse is the key feature," and noted that roof and HVAC repairs were factored into the negotiated price.
The motion to approve the agreement included noted typographical corrections in sections 8 and 10 and was subject to final staff review; the purchase closing was anticipated in the agreement to be on or about Sept. 19, 2025, with possession at closing. The board approved the purchase unanimously.
