Board approves $41,641 AIR needs-assessment contract, student-teaching agreement and law firm transfer

John Major moved and Renada Greer seconded approval of a Professional Service Agreement with American Institutes for Research (AIR) to conduct a school-level needs assessment for Carbondale Middle School in the amount of $41,641 for the 2025–26 school year; the motion passed by roll call with yes votes from the six members present. The board also approved a student teaching agreement with Illinois College to provide field experience and training effective the 2025–26 school year with automatic renewal until either party terminates the agreement. Field moved and Greer seconded a resolution authorizing transfer of legal counsel engagement to the law firm Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost, LLP for board and district matters previously handled by Kriha Boucek, effective Jan. 1, 2026.
The board additionally approved a settlement agreement and release in pending litigation in Case No. 2025LA69 (Jackson County) by roll call vote. All contractual and legal motions recorded unanimous yes votes among members present; Hunt was absent.
