The Minnewaska Area Schools Board voted Nov. 18 to approve a Memorandum of Understanding with the Minnewaska Teachers Association that provides a VEBA contribution incentive for eligible teachers.
According to the MOU, eligible teachers must have a minimum of 20 years of service in the district, be between ages 58 and 65 as of Jan. 1, 2025, and submit a retirement letter by Feb. 28, 2025. The program is voluntary and is designed to offer a retirement option without affecting rehire eligibility. The motion to approve the MOU passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
