Clerk reports low early-voting turnout and candidate filings ahead of election

The clerk also reported that two candidates had filed for mayor and four candidates had filed for three council seats, and that write-in paperwork is available through Oct. 23 at 4:00 p.m.
The clerk added that new legislation effective in June changes the start date for public officers to Dec. 1 at noon and said she will swear in officials at that time. "We just got done with early voting, yesterday, and our total numbers were a 195 voters in 9 days," the clerk said while summarizing turnout figures.
