City manager (speaker 2) told the council that Well 5 has been functional for about two weeks after repairs following a lightning strike and that the city has maintained the required 12-month rolling average arsenic level of 1 part per million or below. He said the city has not exceeded the limit and that daily and monthly tests continue to show passable results.
On longer-term options, the manager said piping water to the arsenic plant could be more cost-effective than building a mini arsenic plant at a well site and estimated that piping option at about $950,000. He also described immediate equipment needs: "They are about $1,100 per part. We require 3 of them," he said, referring to parts quoted by SCADA. The manager added that the city will order and install those parts and that insurance would likely cover much of the lightning-related costs.
