Board hears updates on renovations, playground and parking plans; Thomas building shows foundation concerns

Janiece Blake, the district’s chief school business official, told the board the 216 E. Main renovation is nearing completion: "Carpet has been installed, and next will be tile in the bathroom and hallways," and staff tentatively plan to start moving in on Feb. 2 to vacate the temporary Wall St. space.
Blake also reported that CMS and Parrish resource centers are within two weeks of completion pending delivery and installation of doors; a punch‑list walkthrough was scheduled for Jan. 20. On Parrish site work, the city approved plans for a parking lot that will add 19 off‑road spaces with an asphalt base and concrete alternate and the district plans to coordinate the parking and playground schedules so the playground is prioritized for summer completion. Blake said the Thomas building is showing foundation issues and engineers have recommended patch work while the district seeks to identify the underlying cause before committing to a full remediation plan.
