The Town Board of Cheektowaga moved into an executive session at the start of its meeting after Supervisor Brian Nowak made a motion to close the public portion for personnel interviews. The clerk seconded the motion and the board gave vocal approval before convening behind closed doors.
Supervisor Brian Nowak announced the purpose of the closed session: "For the purposes of interviews for general foreman for sanitation department." He told the board, "I'll be with no action to follow," indicating members did not intend to take formal action at the end of the interviews. The clerk verbally seconded the motion by saying, "I'll 2nd." The supervisor then confirmed the board was entering executive session.
Before the motion, the clerk conducted roll call and noted Council members Barbara Bukowski, Monica Elderkin, Tiffany Lewis, Brian Pularski and Vernon Thompson were present. The meeting record shows the board proceeded immediately into the closed session; the transcript records no subsequent public votes or decisions related to the interviews.
