Summary
During a policy review the board recommended rescinding Policy 301 and attaching it as an appendix to Policy 342; the board will decide later whether the full board or the policy committee will revise Appendix 301 and will vote on the recommendation at the next regular meeting.
The board reviewed Policies 301, 301A, 342, 343, 344 and 345 at the Nov. 12 special meeting. The board's recommendation was to rescind Policy 301 and attach it as an appendix to Policy 342, with the process for revising Appendix 301 (full board vs. policy committee) to be determined later. A formal vote to adopt that recommendation was deferred to the next regular meeting.
No substantive revisions to the policy language were made during the special meeting. Board members discussed the procedural pathway for review and whether edits should be undertaken by the full board or by the policy committee; direction was to bring the recommendation back for a formal vote at a subsequent meeting.
