Local nonprofit secures 400 additional Google digital-skills scholarships; mural ribbon-cutting set for Aug. 19

Dave Terry, president of the Pickens County Small Business Development Council, told commissioners the nonprofit received 400 additional digital-skills scholarships from Google that are available to Pickens County residents age 13 and up. "We just received 400 more scholarships for Pickens County," Terry said, and urged business owners, students and entrepreneurs to use the training on topics such as e-commerce and digital marketing.
Terry also announced a mural on Hensley Plaza in downtown Jasper is nearly complete and a ribbon-cutting celebration is planned for Aug. 19 with tours, a live radio broadcast and food trucks. He invited the community and courthouse staff to attend. The chair acknowledged the announcement and the board moved on to other public comments.
