District schedules ribbon cutting for 9th inclusive playground; foundation fundraiser set for Nov. 9

Board members heard several community and district announcements at the Sept. 24 meeting. The district will officially open its ninth inclusive playground at Canyon Springs Community School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 10, 2025 at 9:00 AM. Superintendent Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi said students and staff have already named the new space "Canyon Springs Primary Park."
Clerk Shelley Weinstein announced the CLASS Education Foundation will host a fundraiser, "Painting with a Twist," on Nov. 9, 2025; tickets are $50 and the event is open to children and adults. Trustee Ken Chase reminded attendees that the Santa Clarita Valley Trustees meeting will be hosted by the district on Sept. 29, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Valley View Community School. Dr. Kawaguchi also reported positive feedback from a Williams textbook inspection and noted the facilities inspection will be next.
