Town Administrator Jack told the selectboard the town's budget has narrow margins and limited contingency, warning that recent health‑insurance increases and the loss of a large taxpayer create uncertainty for the coming months. "We have a major taxpayer that left the town... which was substantial, 6 digits," Jack said, and urged the board to consider corrective measures and to review next year’s budget assumptions.
Jack also gave an update on the town's financial software: after consulting with a specialist the team identified defects in the original setup and a consultant has proposed repositioning some postings. Jack said the vendor will work with staff electronically and that the changes "could actually work" to restore correct postings and could relieve the need for a time‑consuming forensic review of the past two years.
