Board authorizes Department on Aging to apply for WellWise Services grants

A Department on Aging representative asked the board to authorize submission of an application to the WellWise Services request for proposals (RFP) with an Aug. 14 deadline. The presenter said the department planned to apply for up to 11 separate grant awards and noted that the department currently holds 13 WellWise Services grants.
"We'd be applying for 11 different grants," the Department on Aging representative said, explaining timing constraints and apologizing for the short notice because the RFP was only recently published. Commissioner Bair and others said study session is normally for discussion and asked that the process allow committee review and more time for township and public input in future cycles; Commissioner Bair nonetheless said he would vote in favor this time given the program's value.
Commissioner Kennedy moved approval and Commissioner Snell seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
