Trustee Chris Poteet, who opened the meeting and read the official returns, said Birney received 655 votes (62.80%), Luis Fernando Rojas received 76 votes (7.29%), and Euan Blackman received 312 votes (29.91%) in District 3. For At‑Large Place 6, Poteet reported that Eric Eager received 4,634 votes (64.01%) and Blake Sawyer received 2,605 votes (35.99%). Poteet cited the board's January 15, 2026 order and Texas Education Code section 2.051 as the legal basis for the canvas.
Trustee Harris moved to adopt the resolution canvassing the returns; Trustee Chris Poteet seconded the motion. Trustee Harris thanked the candidates who ran, saying, "I just wanna take this opportunity to thank all of those who stepped up to the plate to run for this board. We really appreciate it. This is a hard job right now, and so we absolutely appreciate all those who stepped up. So thank you very much." The motion passed by a recorded 2–0 vote, completing the formal canvass and declaration of winners.
Poteet adjourned the meeting at 5:36 p.m. The board noted there were no community members signed up for public comment at this called canvass meeting.
