Principal Shane Brown reported several facilities and safety issues to the board. He said the high‑school gym roof is leaking and roofers were scheduled to repair it. He notified the board that nearby burn piles overseen by the Department of Forestry were not timed as previously planned and caused smoke impacts; staff instructed students to report any difficulties related to the smoke.
Shane Brown also described a recent tsunami alarm that school personnel handled successfully but which revealed opportunities to improve readiness. He said the emergency container will need to be freshly stocked. Although Pacific High School is outside the tsunami zone, the principal said the high school is a potential community shelter and should be equipped to assist if needed. The board received these updates as part of the Principal's Report.
