Superintendent Nicole Albisu told the Ontario School District 8C board on June 30 that legislative funding developments have steered extra dollars toward staff compensation and that the district is monitoring several metrics, including math performance and ninth-grade on-track rates.
Albisu remarked that "next years budget will not be balanced, but the year after that will even it out," and said federal funding remains uncertain. She noted a recently passed accountability bill that increases monitoring of student performance in selected grades and said the district may invite District Math Coach Steve Wyborney to present math grade performance data at a future board meeting.
Albisu also used the opening of the meeting to thank Directors Blanca Rodriguez and Matt Stringer for their service to the board; both reflected on their time on the board during the meeting. The superintendent said the district's budget is "in good shape" but emphasized caution with spending as the district awaits clarity on federal funds.
