Board unanimously approves superintendent contract extension, labor agreements and policy readings

The Ontario School District 8C Board of Directors voted unanimously on a slate of routine and substantive items at its June 2 meeting, approving a one-year extension to Superintendent Nicole Albisu's contract and multiple personnel and policy actions. Director Blanca Rodriguez moved to approve the superintendent contract and Director Matt Stringer seconded; the motion passed with Chair Bret Uptmor, Vice-Chair Mike Blackaby, Director Rodriguez and Director Stringer all voting yes.
Other approvals included the Classified Agreement (moved by Director Stringer), the Administrative Agreement (moved by Vice-Chair Blackaby), the 2025 summer school payroll (moved by Director Rodriguez) and second readings for policies AC, AC-AR, GBNA/JBA, JBA/GBN and JFE with a first reading accepted for JHFE/KN-AR (motion by Vice-Chair Blackaby; second by Director Stringer). Director of Finance Devin Collins noted routine finance items and said the district will present the proposed budget and audit at upcoming meetings. Superintendent Nicole Albisu emphasized district priorities more broadly, saying, "No matter the situation the student is in, we provide transportation."
