How to apply for Lake County Child Support Services: hours, contact and eligibility

Lake County Child Support Services told the Board of Supervisors that residents can apply for help establishing paternity or child support orders, request enforcement, and seek modifications when circumstances change. Deputy Director Tracy Garcia said the department "offers a wide range of assistance designed to promote stability and help families thrive" and described specific access routes for different groups.
Garcia said CalWORKs families are automatically referred to child support services when cash aid is granted by the Department of Social Services. Non-CalWORKs families may apply via the simplified online application at dcss.lakecountyca.gov, by phone at (866) 901-3212, or in person at 3980 Gard Street in Kelseyville. The presentation noted that child support orders can include health insurance and childcare costs when appropriate and that the office cannot change spousal support orders. Meeting participants also corrected a published hours statement: staff clarified that the local office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
