Doohan as interim public health officer at an amount not to exceed $90,000 as outlined in the agreement," and the board approved the appointment on a 5–0 voice vote. After the motion, Chair called for the vote and stated the result as carrying 5–0.
Health Services Director Lisa Faraco told the board this is a short-term arrangement while the county seeks another interim or permanent health officer. "I I want your, your board to understand that this is a short term contract," Faraco said, adding that the candidate is on leave from a City of Berkeley position and the dual coverage was approved by both Berkeley and the California Department of Public Health.
The board did not receive in-person or online public comment on the appointment during the limited comment period. The motion language and the vote were recorded during the meeting for the public record.
