Students showcase 'A Book and a Movie' project and Science Night draws large family turnout; regional awards announced

Gib Olinger Elementary principal Sarah Ensunsa reported a student project titled "A Book and a Movie" in which students read The Wild Robot one chapter a week since February; each student received a copy and families were invited to a free drive-in screening that 133 students attended. Ensunsa also reported Science Night had 26 stations and drew over 650 attendees.
Student board members Emanuel Hernandez and Miah Cisneros summarized end-of-year high school activities, including spring sports advancing to district competitions, school concerts and ASB elections. Superintendent Aaron Duff announced IMESD Crystal Apple Awards for district staff—Tiffany Gaines, Isidra Contreras, Marianne Smith and Xiomara Garcia—and said he was surprised to receive the IMESD Crystal Apple Leadership Award.
Duff also noted extracurricular successes: the FFA dairy judging team won first at state and will advance to nationals and the choir placed third at state.
