And we have about 100 kindergarten," he said, noting a longer-term trend of declining births and lower kindergarten cohorts. He said the district is trying to avoid layoffs by right-sizing positions when staff leave and, where appropriate, using grants to preserve services.
He also invited committee members to follow up with staff for detailed questions and emphasized transparency: "My office is always open, and Denise is always available to talk," Duff said, encouraging one-on-one conversations before the next meeting.
