Royse City ISD updates library-materials policy to reflect HB 900 and SB 13

District administrator Dr. Squalls presented changes to the EFB local policy required by recent legislation and state agency guidance. He said the updated policy "ensure[s] that districts our district adopts and implements the new library collection development standards set by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission," add a local school library advisory council and require future material recommendations to come to the board when appropriate.
Trustees had no questions and approved the policy update by unanimous voice vote. Board members and administrators said the changes are intended to increase transparency for parents while maintaining collection-development processes that support curriculum and diverse viewpoints.
