Presenter says North Ridgeville high school CCWMR score climbed to 74.8 as CTE programs expand

Lee Armbruster, who addressed the board at the opening of the meeting, said the district has made measurable gains on the state's College-Career-Workforce-Military Readiness metric.

"So in the 2425 school year, we were at 55.5. Last year was 65.7. This year ... we're currently at 74.8," Armbruster said, noting the report lags a year and the district expects to reach a 75% threshold in the 2026'27 report. She described the district's approach as expanding both college readiness and career pathways so students have more options without incurring unnecessary college costs.

Armbruster told the board most gains came through expanded CTE programming: pre-apprenticeships, industry-recognized credentials, work-study placements and strengthened program-of-studies materials for scheduling. She said pre-apprenticeship participation rose from about 15 students in 2024'25 to roughly 150 this year, with concentrated growth in hospitality and manufacturing pathways.

The presenter outlined plans for an expanded "Future Now" event series and ongoing career-exploration panels scheduled across the school year so students and families can connect with industry representatives. Armbruster asked community members to volunteer to speak at panels and said staff will emphasize aligning course registration to career exploration during February scheduling.
