Council approves $62,702 change order for L.T. Ross building roof after field repairs discovered
Summary
Council approved a $62,702.50 change order to increase the Henley Roofing contract for the L.T. Ross building re-roof project to a new not-to-exceed total of $841,902.50; engineering staff said the additional cost resulted from metal sheathing and parapet repairs discovered once the roof was removed.

The council approved an amendment to the contract with Henley Roofing Company to increase the L.T. Ross building re-roof project by $62,702.50, raising the contract ceiling to $841,902.50. Councilmember Grant asked whether the change order fell within the council's typical 10% threshold for change orders and whether additional change orders were likely.
An engineering representative explained, "And this change order, there was some metal sheathing underneath the roof when we took the roof off that we discovered and some concrete parapet that had to be repaired." Councilmember Grant accepted the explanation and supported the amendment; the motion carried by voice vote.
