Ontario SD 8C reports Division 22 compliance and launches equity advisory committee
Summary
District staff told the Board the Division 22 review shows systems for student success and safety are in place; a new state requirement prompted the district to form an educational equity advisory committee comprising staff, students, parents and community members. The committee will meet monthly.
Jodi Elizondo, director of district improvement initiatives and grants, reviewed the district’s Division 22 state report, which documents OSD systems for curriculum, safety and student success. Elizondo said the district had some waivers in 2024–25 (including for essential skills and ELL) and described curriculum additions such as social-emotional learning and financial education.
Elizondo told the Board there is “a new requirement this year, and that is to have an educational equity advisory committee,” and Superintendent Nicole Albisu said the district has convened the committee with staff, students, parents and community members and plans for monthly meetings. Elizondo and Albisu said the committee’s primary goal is to support student success and to provide a venue for equity-related review and feedback.
