Students revive traditions with festivals, contests and new clubs

Student representative Courtney Phillips told the board Fall Festival went well and summarized a slate of upcoming student activities, including a Friendsgiving lunch, Christmas movie and treats day, a pie‑in‑the‑face trivia contest, shaving‑cream Santa beards, a toilet‑paper holiday costume contest, scavenger hunt and crazy hair day. Principal Shane Brown praised the student body for coordinating events and said the goal is to shift school culture away from pandemic‑era isolation back toward inclusiveness.
Brown also reported on new extracurricular developments: a student club called "Interact" is forming under guidance from Bella Stephan of the Rotary, who is helping draft bylaws, and the first edition of the Pacific High School newspaper has been published with Amanda Carlton assisting students in selling ad space. Brown said online course options are available to cover upper‑level math while a long‑term substitute is in place; the district will cover the student cost for those classes.
