District schedules SAT, reports students adapting to zero-phone policy

Principal Shane Brown announced that the district will administer the SAT on Tuesday, Oct. 29; both juniors and seniors may take the test and juniors may later keep their higher score. Shane credited staff member Shayla Carpenter with coordinating the testing logistics.
Brown also reported the district's zero student cell-phone policy has been implemented with relatively few problems. He said students now use school-provided cameras for yearbook photos and come to the office when they need to call home. Student Representative Courtney Phillips said students initially resisted but have adjusted and are "hanging out and talking more." The board did not take formal action on the policy at this meeting.
