"There have been new ring systems installed, door locking mechanisms, and radios for staff to communicate," Elizondo said, listing safety upgrades the district has implemented.
Elizondo named programs supported by these grants, including Latinos in Action, Link Crew and funding for CTE certifications and college classes at OHS; she said the supports include incentives focused on attendance and behavior and that those efforts have helped raise graduation rates. Director of Student Services Melissa Williams added that Early Literacy Grants have led to curriculum updates and new systems to support student success.
Board members did not ask for immediate action; staff will continue to monitor program outcomes and report on grant implementation.
