Tamra Taylor, the district's Director of Nutrition Services, told the board the district has implemented NutriSlice, a web-and-app menu platform that allows families to view school-specific menus, filter by allergens and carbohydrate counts, and access translated menus in more than 50 languages.
Taylor outlined regulatory changes affecting school meals, including a requirement that 80% of grains served be whole grain-rich and changes to allowable breakfast cereals and flavored milks. She said Nutrition Services is collecting spring feedback surveys and monitoring participation to adjust offerings within federal guidelines. Taylor noted schools cannot offer second entre9es without exceeding federal calorie, sodium and fat limits; instead, staff promote sharing tables and salad/fruit bars as supplemental options.
The presentation emphasized tools for families managing dietary needs and the district's effort to balance student preferences with compliance to federal nutrition rules.
