District expands PLCs into 'IMPACT Teams' with consultant support

Director of Curriculum Matt Yoshioka told the board that IMPACT Teams build on Professional Learning Communities by increasing collective teacher efficacy and focusing on self-empowered learners. The district has contracted The Core Collaborative to guide PLC teams through the process; participating teams meet four times a year to set goals and review assignments.
Yoshioka said Washington Elementary grades 3–5 are in year one, while Pendleton High School and Sunridge Middle School science and language-arts teachers are in year two. Board members were briefed on the cadence of meetings and the expected teacher-led planning work.
