Two residents used the public-comment portion of the Royse City ISD board meeting to press the board to open Worthy Fade High School rather than delay its use.
Jocelyn White, who said she has lived in Royse City for 15 years, told trustees: "Opening worthy fate high school to 9th and 10th graders zoned for that area would be in the best interest of RCISD students as a whole." White said overcrowding at the current high school creates safety risks and harms academic quality and teacher retention.
Valerie J. Rowe, a former RCISD teacher and parent, cited enrollment numbers and asked the board for clearer data. "As of today, there are 3,058 students enrolled in Royce City High School," Rowe said, and she asked the district to report exact counts of students affected by proposed changes. Rowe also said parents want clearer financial reporting from the districtspecifically asking why the CFO did not present slides at a December meeting.
The board did not take action in response to public comment; the Chair reminded the public that the board's policy limits response during public comment and that the session is a listening opportunity.
