The Royse City ISD Education Foundation told trustees it completed a record grant season, awarding dollars to support classroom projects districtwide. The foundation reported more than 90 applications and approved 58 grants that will benefit 97 teachers across every campus.
"We did end up awarding 58 grants, to over a total of 97 teachers and every campus," the foundation representative said. She noted the largest share of grants went to special education, with multiple awards to career/CTE programs, ESL/bilingual supports and fine arts. The foundation also reported awarding a total of $129,360.88 in grants this year and asked recipients present to stand for recognition and a photograph.
Board members praised the foundation's work and volunteers who reviewed applications; trustees said the grants expand classroom opportunities and reach students in multiple programs.
