Royse City ISD reviews three options to open Worthy Fayette High School: delay, phase-in or transition

Delay, phase in, and transition," Dr. Anderson said, and she described the options: Delay would push the opening to reassess 2026'27 bond capacity and could postpone a full opening until 2028 if both bond sales are successful; Phase-in would seek a $35 million sale to open a partial campus in 2027 and return later for the remaining $65 million; Transition would temporarily create a 0.333 middle-school zone (grades 6'8) to relieve middle-school crowding while phase 2 and Magnus Middle School work are completed.
The board discussed implications for grade configuration, transportation logistics and program access under each scenario. Dr. Anderson emphasized the district will gather feedback from students, staff and families, publish FAQs, and open a dedicated email channel for questions. No final decision was made; staff will return with refined options and community input.
