Spearman ISD extends principals' and athletic director's contracts to 2027

Following a closed session on personnel and security, the Spearman ISD Board of Trustees on Feb. 6 approved contract extensions for multiple campus administrators and the district athletic director. The board extended High School Principal Shannon Jackson's two‑year, 12‑month certified administrator contract to June 30, 2027; Junior High Principal Karina Baca and Elementary Principal Lizet Olmos had two‑year, 11‑month contracts extended to the same date; Assistant Principal Cayla Schroeder's two‑year, one‑month contract was extended to June 30, 2027.
The board also extended Athletic Director Michael Lozano's two‑year, 12‑month term contract as Teacher/Athletic Director/Athletic Trainer to June 30, 2027. Each extension was moved and seconded (motions recorded in the minutes) and carried by a 7‑0 vote. The minutes record the motions in full, for example: "extend the two year 12‑month Certified Administrator term contract of Principal Shannon Jackson to June 30, 2027." No dissenting votes were recorded.
Board action followed a closed meeting held under the Texas Open Meetings Act (Gov't Code 551.074 for personnel). The meeting minutes indicate the board moved into closed session at 7:55 p.m. and reconvened in open session at 9:13 p.m., then took the contract votes and adjourned at 9:17 p.m.
