Spring Branch ISD honors officer, staff and students for lifesaving, teaching and technology achievements
Summary

Spring Branch ISD used its Sept. 23 meeting to publicly recognize district employees and students for awards and emergency response work. The board honored Spring Branch ISD Police Officer Juan Pedraza for his role in saving an infant's life and recognized staff who responded to a derecho and Hurricane Beryl; those actions were cited as reasons for #IAMSBISD awards.
The board also recognized Ashley May and the Educational Technology Department for receiving the 2023–24 TEAM Award from the Texas Education Technology Leaders (TETL) for achieving equitable access to learning technology. Jamie Flint, a Spring Woods High School science teacher, received the Texas Medical Association Award for Excellence in Science Teaching. Associate Superintendent for Finance Christine Porter and the Financial Services Division were recognized for earning their 32nd consecutive Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association. Separately, the district honored the top fifteen participants in the Summer Reading Rockstars program.
Board President Lisa Andrews Alpe and Superintendent Jennifer Blaine opened and closed the recognitions with remarks recorded in the minutes; the meeting minutes note the district—ncouragement and appreciation of staff and students across these awards.
