Trustee Dustin Mackie made the motion, and Trustee Stephen Batton seconded; the minutes record the motion text as "to approve the extension of the Superintendent's Multi-Year contract from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028."
The decision followed a closed-session review of the superintendent's yearly evaluation under the Texas Open Meetings Act (Personnel Matters, §551.074). The board entered closed session at 8:03 p.m. after a motion by Vice President Stephen Batton and reconvened at 9:01 p.m. The minutes list six trustees voting in favor and note Karla Flowers was absent.
Board President Dr. Mark Garnett presided over the special session, which took place at the High School Library, 403 East 11th Avenue, Spearman, Texas. The meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
