Staff urge representative interview teams, raise concern about "picking our friends"

Licensed and classified staff used the committee's listening session to press for meaningful representation on interview teams and to raise concerns about selection fairness. Chad Clouse, speaking for licensed staff, said he "would like the SEA elected officers to be able to choose who is on the interview team" and noted a prior comment that the committee might "pick our friends," calling that concerning. Jane Crater agreed with Clouse's remarks.

Classified staff member Meghan McKeown said she was the only classified staffer to sign up and described "the relationship between the OSEA and the District [as] fractured," saying she did not expect many classified staff to volunteer to sit on interview committees. The remarks highlight labor‑relations and representation tensions the committee will need to manage as it forms interview teams and solicits broader input.
